Workers develop English, literacy and communication skills in the SEE Program
Congratulations to the 14 employees from JBS Beef City Toowoomba who recently graduated from the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program's Workplace-based Training!
We partnered with JBS to build foundation skills in language, literacy, numeracy and digital capability for their PALM (Pacific Australia Labour Mobility) employees, delivered over 10 weeks in a classroom setting.
Rather than adding pressure during peak production periods, we scheduled classes on Saturdays, outside standard business hours. This meant no disruption to weekday production, no need to backfill roles, and no impact on output during critical business times.
Our team managed the entire process, including:
Identifying suitable participants in consultation with supervisors
Managing enrolments and compliance requirements
Sourcing the trainer and tailoring the program to workplace-specific language and communication needs
Providing regular progress updates, with no additional reporting required from the employer
The program was contextualised to the JBS work environment, so employees developed English, literacy and communication skills directly aligned to their daily tasks, safety processes and team interactions.
Ongoing pastoral care from our team was central to the program's success, driving strong attendance and engagement from start to finish.
