If you are wanting to learn English, you’re in luck! There are so many free resources available to help you on your way, including both free translation and English tuition resources.

If you’re a migrant, learning English or improving your English skills will help you to not only navigate daily tasks in Australian life, but also help you understand Australian culture.

Many migrants can access up to 510 hours of free English tuition through the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP).

Some free online resources that might help you to learn English. 

  • Google Translate is a quick, easy and free online translation tool. Simply type in a phrase and it can be translated for you – either to English or from English to your chosen language. Systran offers a free Arabic-English translation tool. 

  • ESL Games+ provides lots of fun games and quizzes to help you learn English.

  • English Listening Lesson Library Online provides over 2,500 English lessons with audio and video. 

  • BBC Learning English is a YouTube channel by BBC to help you learn how to speak English with topics covering grammar, news, pronunciation, vocabulary and includes dramas, music, interviews and celebrity videos.

  • ManyThings.org provides interesting things for students learning English as a second language including many “listen and repeat” sentences to help you practice your pronunciation.

  • English Club offers lots of free English learning resources, including games.
