How the SEE Program Is Helping Early Childhood Learners in Moonah Succeed
In Moonah, our learners are building the practical skills they need for careers as early childhood educators. They are guided by their vocational trainer, Anju, as they complete the CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Training focuses on the real tasks educators do every day. Learners plan and run arts and crafts activities. They also practise infant care techniques, including safe nappy changing procedures using training dolls. This hands-on approach lets learners build skill and confidence in a supported setting before they enter a workplace.
Foundation skills support alongside vocational training
Success in a qualification depends on more than practical skill. Learners also need to read assessment tasks, write clear responses, use industry language and complete online learning. That is why our Moonah learners also work with Nancy, our SEE Program trainer, who provides personalised language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills development.
Nancy's tailored support includes:
Breaking down tasks: Assessment instructions and class activities are broken down into manageable steps, so learners know what is being asked of them.
Reading and writing for assessments: Learners are helped to build reading comprehension and to write their assessment responses.
Industry language: Learners gain confidence with the workplace terminology and specialised language used in early childhood settings.
Digital skills: Learners develop the digital skills needed to complete online learning activities and to research on the internet using appropriate resources.
One-on-one sessions: Individual support is available for literacy, numeracy, learning strategies and assessment preparation.
Why integrated support matters
When learners get vocational training and foundation skills support together, they can take part in their course with confidence rather than falling behind. Nancy's support helps our Moonah learners build strong literacy, numeracy and digital skills. These skills help them complete their training and move towards meaningful employment in the early childhood education and care sector.
