How the SEE Program helped Sarah navigate the Australian healthcare system
For many people, navigating the healthcare system can be overwhelming. For those facing language and literacy barriers alongside health challenges, it can feel nearly impossible.
For Sarah, the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program has been transformative, giving her the skills and confidence to advocate for her own health needs.
Since joining the SEE Program, Sarah has learned how to read and write for the first time in her life. These skills have helped her better understand medical information, communicate her needs clearly and independently book and attend medical appointments. She’s now able to ask questions from healthcare professionals to look after her own health.
The SEE Program took a whole-of-person approach to Sarah’s needs, connecting her with the Financial Wellbeing Collective where she learned vital budgeting skills and how to protect herself from scams. Recognising that Sarah may be missing out on financial support she was entitled to, we also linked her with a Services Australia Multicultural Services Officer – ensuring she could access government payments available to older Australians.
The SEE Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Workplace Relations, and Max Solutions RTO 0667 is proud to deliver this lasting economic and social impact through this program.
