Celebrating Success at Primo Foods Wacol: Second Cohort Completes SEE Program

SEE Classroom

In early July, we celebrated the achievements of Primo Foods employees who completed the SEE Program's Workplace-based Training in Wacol, QLD. This milestone marks the second cohort to graduate from the program at this site, reflecting a growing enthusiasm for foundation skills training among the workforce.

Supporting PALM Employees at Primo Foods Wacol

Max Solutions partnered with Primo Foods to equip their Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) employees with foundation skills in language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills. The program ran over 10 weeks in a classroom setting, tailored specifically to support workers settling into life and employment in Australia.

Training Scheduled Around Business Needs

To avoid disrupting peak production periods, training was scheduled outside standard business hours, with classes held on Saturdays. This approach ensured the program could proceed without impacting weekday operations or requiring roles to be backfilled.

End-to-End Program Coordination

Max Solutions managed the entire program from start to finish, significantly reducing the administrative burden on Primo Foods' site managers. This support included:

  • Identifying suitable participants in consultation with supervisors

  • Managing enrolments and compliance requirements

  • Organising the trainer and tailoring the program to workplace-specific language and communication needs

  • Providing regular updates on learner progress without requiring additional reporting from the employer

Training Tailored to the Workplace

The program was contextualised to Primo Foods' specific work environment, meaning employees learned English, literacy, and communication skills directly tied to their daily tasks, safety processes, and team interactions. This made the training immediately valuable on the job.

Growing Demand for the Program

This marks the second cohort to complete the program at Primo Foods Wacol, and according to Craig Miller, Director of Operations – Primo Foods QLD, there's already a waiting list of employees keen to join.

"The SEE Program supports us in developing our workers and it's had a meaningful impact on our workforce," Craig explains. "We're investing in them not just as workers, but as individuals for their future."

Building Practical Life Skills

Beyond workplace communication, the program builds practical life skills essential for settling in Australia. Participants learn personal budgeting, gain a clear understanding of Australia's banking system, tax, and superannuation, and build awareness of common scams targeting migrant workers. Together, these skills help workers make informed financial decisions and build a secure foundation for their time in Australia.
