Keeping safe from the flu

AMEP Flu Tracking

Recently, we welcomed nurses from Hunter New England Local Health District for an informative session on Flu tracking with our learners in the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) in the Hunter Valley, NSW.

The presentation helped learners understand how simple weekly health reporting can support early detection of flu and COVID-like symptoms — helping keep families, classmates, workplaces and local communities safer.

As part of our delivery of the AMEP, we organise sessions like this because it impacts the communities we serve:

• Health literacy supports settlement of migrants and refugees
• English learning is connected to real life when the session introduced useful health-related vocabulary and communication skills that learners can use

With the support of bilingual interpreters, our learners were able to engage fully, ask questions and build confidence.

Our delivery of the AMEP combines English language learning with practical settlement knowledge, trusted local partnerships and meaningful community outcomes.

A warm thank you to the wonderful nurses from Hunter New England Local Health District for supporting our students and communities.

The AMEP is funded by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs. Max Solutions RTO 0667 is subcontracted by Navitas to deliver the program.
